Important information

  • Important information on the course, including the syllabus, literature and student support hours can be found in InfoAlunos.
  • There will be no classes on the weeks 16-20 of September 2019 and 6-10 of January 2020.
  • There will be a T class on the 24th of September instead of TP.
  • In the 25th of September the T class will be from 16:00 until 17:00.
  • There will be a T class on the 28th of September from 10:00 to 11:30 and from 12:00 to 13:30 (room 2).
  • There will be a TP class on the 9th of October from 9:00 to 13:00 in Lab 5 (Mechanics and Waves Lab).

    Tests

    • During the semester, the students do three tests (no auxiliary material is allowed; graphic and programmable calculators are not allowed as well). Mobile phones or any equipment capable of data transmition cannot be in the possession of students during tests. The tests have a duration of 1.5 hours each and will refer to the following material, respectively: Chapters 1-3, Chapters 4-5, Chapters 6-7. The tests will contribute to the final classification with the following weighs, respectively: 40%, 25%, 35%. The students can repeat any of the three tests during the re-sitting period in January or February.
    • In test statements vectors will be written in bold font.
    • Students must sign-in for tests at Gabinete de Apoio ao Estudante until the second business day prior to the test. Students who do not sign in may be unable to sit the tests.
    • When signing-in students must deliver two blank exam sheets and two blank sheets per each test. All delivered sheets should be placed inside an exam sheet.
    • An identification document with photo is required for sitting the tests.

    Normal period

    • Indicative test schedule (subject to confirmation!): first test: 02-11-2019 (from 10h00 to 11h30); second test: 30-11-2019 (from 10h00 to 11h30); third test: 07-01-2020 (from 11h00 to 12h30 room 2).

    Re-sitting period

    • Students who wish to re-sit the tests must sign in through InfoAlunos.
    • Students can choose to re-sit one, two, or three tests.
    • Above-described sign-in requirements at Gabinete de Apoio ao Estudante apply also to the re-sitting period.
    • The test schedule is: first test: from 9h00 to 10h30 second test: from 11h00 to 12h30 third test: from 14h00 to 15h30 Class Room 17

    Setember special re-sitting period

    • If you are unsure whether you are entitled to re-sit the exams in the special period, check Article 9 of "Regulamento de Avaliação da Aprendizagem dos alunos da UMa" on the page of Regulations of Universidade da Madeira
    • It is mandatory to sign-in in InfoAlunos
    • Special re-sitting period will happen in the same way as the re-sitting period: students can choose to re-sit one, two, or three tests
    • Grades obtained in the re-sitting period cannot be improved in the special re-sitting period. In other words, only the grades obtained in the normal period can be improved.
    • Above-described sign-in requirements at Gabinete de Apoio ao Estudante apply also to the special re-sitting period.
